Why are Indian cities banning PUBG when it is useless to do so? Central govt should ban it if needed

City administrations and educational institutes in India are banning PUBG. But it’s a useless exercise and doesn’t solve anything, if at all there is a problem, until whatever issues the game has been dealt with by the Central government.

Of late it has become fashionable to pick on PlayerUnknowns BattleGrounds, popularly known as PUBG, in India. In several cities, the local administration has “banned” the game. Some education bodies have made noises against the game, and some educational institutions have warned their students against playing the game. These are also the noises that are senseless, made largely because they mean little. If PUBG needs to be banned it has to be banned by the central government. There is no other way a game can be banned.

It has been a few months since the news of PUBG getting banned by various institutions started popping up. The popular online game has often been accused of “spoiling children” as well as youngsters with its “violent” gameplay. Various colleges and district education authorities have reportedly deployed personnel to ensure PUBG is not played in campuses. As such, the concern of the game’s massive popularity even reached PM Narendra Modi when a concerned mother asked for tips to guide her son, who apparently plays PUBG, in the right direction.
